Reading Slumps

reading-slump

I haven’t been blogging much lately at all. It’s not that I don’t want to blog, but it’s that I don’t want to read. Everyone should be familiar with the feeling. Just looking at all your books piled up, wanting to read them, but simply not being able to.

I think the main cause of a reading slump is either you’ve been reading consecutively for an extended period of time, or (like me) you have so many things going on in your life and so much stress piling up that using any brain energy is just impossible. Now usually, it is reading that is able to relieve my stress and along me to relax; however, I suppose right now, the simple action of reading word after word is too exhausting, and I can’t seem to get into the story.

This actually scares me just a little bit, considering as things move forwards, I’m experiencing this more and more often. In fact, I won’t even tell you my book count of 2015 because it’s shameful honestly. I certainly do not want this to progress for any longer.

Do not fret though, as I plan to fix this soon. I hope after things start to slow down, I will be able to pick up a nice, easy contemporary and enjoy reading again. I don’t plan to force myself to read, as that is probably the worst thing you can do, but I do hope that after a little bit, it’ll just come.

ALSO, The Crown by Kiera Cass, and The Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan came out yesterday! I would easily be able to read either of those right now, as my overwhelming excitetment trumps my tired mind. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get them, because, being the idiot that I am, I bought a whole ton of books not that long ago without realizing these consequences, and now I’m cut off from buying books for a while.

That brings me to actually another great way to ease yourself out of a reading slump. Excitement. Frankly if you’re talking to your friends a lot about a particular book that you haven’t read or reading all these excited reviews online about books you want to read, eventually you’ll be so hyped that you’ll have to start reading again!

ALSO, I’ve decided to share my love for poetry on this blog as well, so you can look forward to daily (or whenever I decide to actually log on, because I’m secretly a sloth) poems, yay!

So anyway, that was just a little, random, disorganized post about reading slumps. Comment if you can relate, I really need some motivation here guys.
